Cicadas are Coming!

Beginning this April, billions of cicadas will be popping out of the ground from their 17-year nap. This Brood X is expected to be the world’s largest and our metro area is expected to be the most populous area. You will definitely notice these flying insects for their song and size. Their size is incredible with a wingspan up to 3-inches and a body length of 2.5- inches.

Their last appearance to our area was in 2004. If you love the sounds of nature then you will be in for a treat. Please know that they may cause cosmetic damage to your landscape and young ornamental trees.
